5 years of Dance Policy @ SOUP

5 years. 7 issues. 5 exhibitions. 1 global pandemic. Numerous memories made across the way. And now, our first event. A birthday should be a celebration of all that has come and all that is on the way. A time to reconnect with old friends. A moment to forget all that fogs the mind. You are all cordially invited to our 5th birthday party. SOUP Manchester. April 19th 2024. There was only ever one name on our minds to soundtrack such an occasion. Please enter Mali Larrington-Nelson, AKA Shy One. Known to many as a host of NTS Radio's infamous Soup To Nuts show, she has been shaping London's music scene for over a decade. Emerging from Scratcha DVA's label, her sound blends Black British dance music—drum & bass, grime, UK funky, and broken beat—with the warmth of US deep house, creating a timeless and soulful style. Alongside her, we have invited Shadeda. A resident of Balamii and Steam Radio alongside co-running his Manchester based HiFi party, Elody, Shadeda should be on your radar by now. He is a man of elegance and taste - his ‘Through The Motions’ show on Balamii is a testament to that. Running through jazz, latin club and more, it is of no surprise the show features on Mixmag’s ‘Best DJ Mixes of 2024’. Two DJs who absorb and inspire through their selections - this one will be special.
