Save FLY open air

FLY open air is a festival in Edinburgh with acts such as Nina Kravitz, Peggy Gou, and KETTAMA attending. They’ve been running this event for the past three years in Hopetoun house and princes street gardens. They argue that diversity and youth music culture in our city is under threat.

The council is responsible.

The council has decided they want to decrease the size of the event, with a new proposed layout. In FLY open air's own words “their suggestions would make our event space smaller and in turn unsafe, overcrowded, and unviable.” Events like this allow the public to reclaim their right to visit the park. It would be understandable if the park was being mistreated repeatedly, but it's not. If the park is being mistreated, councillors should still work with the promoters to solve this, not close down their event entirely.

Shutting down events like FLY open air will destroy the music culture many have worked to build, and wipe Edinburgh off the music map entirely.

This is another example of dancing being policed, we cannot allow the attacks on clubs and festivals to continue. Join FLY open air’s fight at https://www.change.org/p/edinburgh-city-council-support-youth-music-culture-in-edinburgh-save-fly-open-air-d7a6ae87-28b5-4609-923e-c0beff75945f
